Exciting Couple of Weeks

This is the time a writer dreams of. First I find an offer of representation on my doorstep for Prime Directive, the following day I'm approached by a respected American author about collaborating with her, and the day after it's confirmed that Prime Directive is going to be produced. So since the launch of this website I'm considering going with a Literary Agent, I'm starting work on a Radio series and Prime's going to be shown to a fresh audience.

This has caused a couple of changes to the website. The prices for scripts and PlayPacks are under review. I hope to be able to have the new prices available on the site before I post my next ramble. On that point I have to pay a huge thanks to The Team (And so you should - Ed) for getting the emails addresses sorted out so quickly. Thanks for the emails to date and I shall attempt to answer them all in the next ramble.

Once things have been finalised about the performance dates for Prime Directive I will ensure that I publish them, along with an email contact for tickets.

But I have to return to the ongoing saga that it Denim. I've completed my final edit and have forwarded it for proofreading. It's that tense time where I live in fear that my editor is going to hate it. But even if she says she loves it, I won't believe her and start seeking criticism from elsewhere. Why I put myself through this I have no idea.

I learnt a great deal writing Prime Directive, that has dramatically changed the shape of Denim. My new work is far closer to home, and I feel more entertaining because of it. Emotions are running closer to the surface and this gives the counterpoint to increase the impact of the humour. Those that have read it so far have asked me to consider turning it into a novel. The worrying part is, I'm thinking about it...

Now I have to get down to completing the storyboards for my next work... I'll fill you in on how I'm going next time.

What I'm Up to

I’m currently finishing off the final edit of Denim, which is proving to be entertaining. Once I finish a scene, I get a few of the guys round and we have a read-through over a couple of beers. This enables me to double check timings and the ease of annunciation. Suffice to say, we’re having far too much fun.

I’m attending a read-through of Prime Directive this weekend at company that intends to produce it at Easter. I’m really looking forward to it – as I always do. I have this horrible habit of dropping everything when a company asks me to go to a read-through or performance
.

While finishing off Denim, I’m also developing the storyboard for my next play (working title: Reunion) and setting out the format for the forthcoming Production Diaries.

I hope that you enjoy the site – and I look forward to receiving your comments… And hopefully the team will put the finishing touches to the site by the next time I post.
